What types of violations can I be ticketed for?

Some of the violations you can be ticketed for are as follows:

    How much are parking tickets?
      Parking fines are from $25.00 to $50.00 depending on the violation. All parking tickets are $25.00 with the exception of handicapped violations which are $50.00

    How do I pay the fine?
      The fine for parking tickets may be paid at the City Clerk's office, One Batavia City Centre, Batavia, NY 14020, in person or by mail. The directions are printed on the ticket.


    Animals

    Does the City have an animal control officer?
      Yes. The animal control officer addresses complaints involving dogs

    What if I have a problem with a skunk or other wild animal.
      We will address wild animal nuisance problems only when an animal is acting abnormally and may pose a health or personal threat requiring immediate action. All other wild animal nuisance complaints should be addressed to a nuisance wildlife control specialist. You can obtain the names of licenced nuisance wildlife control specialist thought the Dept. of Environmental Conservation.

    Does the City of Batavia have a leash law?
      Yes
    Do dogs need to be licensed in the City of Batavia?
      Yes, all dogs need to be licensed at 4 months of age after they have had their rabies shots.

    Does the City of Batavia Police Department do vehicle lock outs.
      Yes

    Does the police department do fingerprinting for licenses and permits?
      Yes. The police department does fingerprinting for such things as school employment, adoptions, citizenship and liquor licenses. There is no charge for this service.

    How do I obtain a copy of an accident report?
      There is a request sheet located at the police dispatch desk that you will need to fill out. Most accident will be available within 24 hours of an accident. If a clerk is available when you fill out the form, you can get it that day, otherwise it will be within 2 business days.
      Cost of reports are:
      25¢ per page if you are picking it up.
      $2.50 for a fax and $3.00 to be mailed. These are prepaid.

    How do I obtain a copy of an incident report?
      There is a request sheet located at the police dispatch desk that you will need to fill out.
      You can only obtain a copy if you are involved in the incident or a child of yours under the age of 18 was involved. There are certain regulation which might prohibit you from obtaining the report, in that case you will be notify.

    Does the Police Department do record checks?
     
    Yes. You have to fill out a form located at the Police dispatch desk. They are done on Tuesday and Friday. You can pick them up after 4:00pm on those days.
