NY Route 5 - Main Street Reconstruction

What is the total cost of the project?

Construction Costs

Based on the results of the March 25, 2003 bid opening, the apparent low bidder was Concrete Applied Technology Corporation, dba CATCO, of Alden, NY, for a total cost of $21,643,084.25.

As discussed under "Funding", betterments are those work elements that may be included in a project but cannot be paid for by the State or Federal funding, and therefore must be funded by a local municipality or involved agency / utility. As part of this project, the City is including in the project construction of a new waterline and some sanitary sewer improvements as betterments. The State has tentatively agreed to share in 29% of the waterline betterment since portions of the existing waterlines would have been in conflict with the proposed highway improvements. In addition, some of the streetscape enhancements in the downtown area (such as benches, trash receptacles, banner poles and an underground irrigation system) are considered a betterment. Niagara Mohawk has also included a small betterment for installation of new ducts under Main Street at Oak Street.

Based on CATCO's bid proposal, the estimated construction costs are broken down as follows:
