The construction of this project is expected to occur over a 2-year period beginning in April 28, 2003, at the eastern project limit.  The project has been divided into 4 segments, with the first 2 segments, from the east end up to approximately Porter Avenue to be substantially completed the first year.  The remaining 2 segments, Porter Avenue to Lyon Street and Lyon Street to the western project limit will be under construction and substantially completed in 2004.  Final paving, clean-up and restoration is to be completed by June 30, 2005. 

By breaking the project into segments, the work of the Contractor is controlled such that the whole project length is not completely disrupted for the duration of the construction contract.  However, some utility and underground pipe installation work needs to progress ahead of the roadway work, so some work in segments 3 and 4 is expected during the first year.  In addition, night-time construction is planned in commercial areas, and monetary incentives / disincentives for meeting the project schedule is anticipated.
