Public Works Director  Under the direction of the City Manager, oversees all operational and maintenance aspects of the community’s streets & roadways, water, wastewater, parks and grounds, engineering, public facilities and code enforcement. Successful candidates have strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and maturity for this highly independent and responsible executive-level position providing administrative direction to the Public Works Department. Candidate will be expected to develop a clear vision of the public works challenges facing the City. Candidate will be responsible for overseeing project management of a $22M Water & Sewer Capital Plan over next 10 years, analysis of the age and financial future of the City’s water distribution system, assist the City in the oversight of the construction of a new Police Facility, and manage multiple capital projects.  This will be a provisional appointment contingent upon the successful scoring on a Civil Service exam.  Salary Range:  $82,946 - $100,604.

Superintendent of Water and Wastewater, City of Batavia, NY  - Temporary -  This temporary position is being filled to work with the currrent Superintendent of Water and Wastewater in preparation of the upcoming retirement in early 2022. Temporary to permanent working under the direction of the Director of Public Works, the Superintendent oversees all administrative, operational and maintenance aspects of the community’s water and wastewater systems to include the City’s water plant, wastewater plant and the City’s water distribution system, as well as building maintenance, street lights, traffic signals and pump stations. Successful candidates should possess strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and maturity for this independent and responsible management-level position providing administrative direction to the Bureau of Water and Wastewater. This will be a provisional appointment contingent upon the successful scoring on a Civil Service exam.  Civil Service qualifications;  Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or closely related field, and two (2) years of responsible or professional engineering experience with the design, operation and/or maintenance OR, ten (10) years of responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems, or collection and distribution systems, at least three (3) years of which were in a responsible supervisory capacity OR an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Experience in capital planning, project management and utilities operation and maintenance; strong citizen service attitude is essential.Salary Range:  $75,978 - $92,127

Confidential Secretary to the City Manager The City of Batavia, New York is seeking a qualified experienced professional for a Confidential Secretary to support the City Manager and Assistant City Manager. This position is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating operations within the City Manager’s Office including scheduling, research, writing assignments, agenda preparation, budget input, calendars, travel, grant assistance, expense tracking and other duties. Acts as primary contact to the City Manager’s Office and liaison to the public to communicate City information and field requests and complaints. Interacts with Council on behalf of the Manager to maintain communication, coordinate meetings and activities, and events. Assists City Manager and Assistant City Manager in budget preparation annually. Originates and maintains control and access to complex filing system and records. Attends meetings and takes minutes as directed by the City Manager and Assistant City Manager. Works with City general liability insurance broker to track claims, coordinate with insurance company and City departments for data information and collection and updates City Manager, Assistant City Manager and City Attorney on status of claims, researches and prepares a wide variety of written material including report, letters, memos and statistical charts. Screens calls and provides information to the general public and City departments. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times. Salary Range: $44,836 - $54,225.
