When are permit inspections required?

It is the responsibility of the permit applicant to contact the Code Enforcement Officer to schedule progress inspections as follows:

  • Excavation- prior to placement of stone or engineered fill, if any. 
  • Footing - after forms and re-enforcing materials are installed, prior to concrete placement.
  • Foundation – 1) after forms are set and re-enforcing materials are installed, prior to concrete placement. 2) after forms are removed. Backfilling may not be performed until the foundation is braced or the floor framing is completed.
  • Framing- after plumbing, mechanical and electrical.
  • Roofing- roofing requires ice and water shield inspection before covering.
  • Electrical- rough by third party electrical inspection agency.
  • Plumbing- rough before covering.
  • Insulation- before covering
  • Plumbing- finish
  • Electrical- finish by third party electrical inspection agency.
  • Final- after completion of all work. 
  • A combination of inspections may be scheduled at the same time.
  • Inspections should be scheduled with two days advance notice when possible.
