Genesee County Park & Forest – 11095 Bethany Ctr. Rd., E. Bethany

Visit the Oldest County Forest in New York State and the headwaters of Black Creek! Established in 1915, this park isInterpretive Nature Center well worth a visit to explore 431 acres of rolling hills, 10 miles of well maintained trails, a beautiful Interpretive Nature Center, self guided hiking, playgrounds, ball fields, toboggan hills, a 4 acre wetland, picnic pavilions available for rent, and restrooms with flush toilets and running water.

Winter activities include hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling on marked trails, and sledding.  The beautiful log cabin-style Interpretive Nature Center contains a wide variety of interactive displays, life-size dioramas, an interactive Discovery Zone and lots of information about exploring the park.  Also, learn about the monthly environmental education programs and view wildlife from the elevated balcony.  Park open daily, year round.  Interpretive Center open Thurs – Sun, year round.

DeWitt Recreation Area – 115 Cedar St., Batavia

Originally mined for sand and gravel, this urban park consistsDeWitt Park Fishing Dock of 63 acres with a 38 acre lake, small boat/canoe launch, fishing platforms, 2 miles of self guided hiking trails, picnic pavilions available for rent, restrooms with flush toilets and running water, and a playground.

The Lakeside trail provides opportunities for hiking, biking, access to naturalized areas, and fishing platforms for relaxing and wildlife observation.  The lake is stocked with brown trout each year and provides visitors great opportunities for fishing, canoeing, and migratory bird watching.  Winter activities include hiking, snow-shoeing and cross country skiing. Park open daily, year round.
