United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY resulted from the merger of Genesee Memorial and St. Jerome Hospitals in January 2000. It is a full-service community hospital with 131 licensed beds, accredited by the Joint Commission, and serves the residents of Genesee County and its bordering communities.

United Memorial provides traditional services for a community hospital, including 24-hour emergency care; acute care; obstetrics and gynecology; referred ambulatory services; urgent care; occupational medicine; physical, occupational and aquatic therapy; wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy; pain management; ambulatory surgery; orthopedics; general surgery; inpatient chemical dependency treatment;  and community health education and outreach.  To ensure access to physician services, United Memorial maintains provider offices for primary and pediatric care; non-invasive cardiology and internal medicine; obstetrics and gynecology; and general surgery. For many of its specialized services, United Memorial’s service area expands to include multiple counties in the GLOW region.

Since 2007, United Memorial has invested over $65 million in critical upgrades to its facilities, services and technology through the construction of new state-of-the-art surgical suites, renovated labor/delivery and post-partum units, affordable senior housing apartments, creation of an outpatient diagnostic center, and development of wound care and pain management services. United Memorial has also achieved meaningful use status in the establishment of the electronic medical record (EMR).  Care is enhanced through programs for clinical pharmacy, hospitalists, telemedicine.  When fully implemented, the oncology and infusion services center, as well as the 304B contract pharmacy and outpatient pharmacy initiatives, will bring additional convenience and services  to the region.

United Memorial serves as a clinical rotation site for medical students from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, the State University of New York at Buffalo, the University of Rochester, Daemen College and D’Youville College.  United Memorial also provides a three- year residency program in family medicine to graduate medical students from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
