Department of Public Works

The success of the City of Batavia Department of Public Works is the direct result of partnerships between the five Bureaus, the desire to contribute to the community and the diverse talent and qualifications of the staff.  The department employs 60 employees as well as summer help to provide a wide range of services to the community which include street maintenance, snow plowing of roadways and city owned parking lots, water supply and distribution,  sanitary sewer collection and treatment, park maintenance, traffic signals and street lighting, code enforcement, building plan review and inspection, permitting, coordination with outside consultants for engineering services, capital planning and city building improvements and maintenance.

The Department of Public Works is organized into five bureaus located in four different facilities.  A description of the services provided by each bureau and contact information is available by clicking on the appropriate line.  The work performed by the Public Works staff has a direct impact on the quality of life for the residents, businesses and visitors and is a key factor in not only how well the City of Batavia operates, but also in supporting  the economic vitality of the City.
