Is my water/sewer consumption higher than it should be?

On average, an individual will use 5,000 gallons of water per quarter.  All water/sewer bills are based on actual water consumed (only if there is a problem will the usage be estimated).  By checking the usage on your water bill, you will be able to see if you are using more or less than the average user.  For example, if there are 2 people in your household, you should see approximately 10,000 gallons of water used on your quarterly bill.  If that amount is significantly higher, there may be a leak that you would want to get fixed right away to avoid further cost or it may have been the reading during the summer months and more usage would have been from watering plants, filling a pool, etc.  This average is a way for you to compare your bill to what the average person uses.  As always, if you have any questions about your bill, please contact the Clerk’s office and we will be happy to explain.
