Comprehensive Plan Update

The City of Batavia is a different place than it was in 1997, when it adopted the current Comprehensive Plan. Since that time, the public and private sector have undertaken many projects in the City, including redevelopment of the downtown area, formation of a Business Improvement District, changes to the zoning code, reconstruction of State Route 5, State Route 33/Walnut Street and Cedar Street, and completion of a variety of economic development projects. Current and Future plans for the City include Brownfield Opportunity Area Strategic Site redevelopment, construction of the Ellicott Pedestrian/Bicycle Trail, various neighborhood improvement efforts, and the Science, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Project (STAMP) in Genesee County, among others. To assess the City’s current assets and liabilities and strategically plan for the future, the City is now updating its Comprehensive Plan funded in part by a NYSERDA Cleaner, Greener Communities Phase II (Implementation) grant. The City appointed a Steering Committee to work with the consultant team to develop an implementation plan and we will be posting updates on this website and on the Project Facebook site at www.facebook.com/bataviacp2017.
